PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

The Town of Cabot is considering making application to the State of Vermont for a CDBG Disaster Recovery Implementation Grant under the Vermont Community Development Program. A public hearing will be held at 5:30 pm on September 16, 2025 at the Willey Building, 3084 Main Street (2nd floor Meeting Room), Cabot to obtain the views of citizens on community development, to furnish information concerning the amount of funds available and the range of community development activities that may be undertaken under this program, the impact to any historic and archaeological resources that may be affected by the proposed project, and to give affected citizens the opportunity to examine the proposed statement of projected use of these funds. The proposal is to apply for $1,298,000 in CDBG-DR funds which will be used to accomplish the following activities:

This project involves the North Tributary in Cabot Village and follows the engineering recommendations to replace the existing 80-year-old bridge with an elevated bridge that will provide greater clearance and headspace for passage of stormwater flows and flood debris. This will avoid the flooding of residences along Main Street and damage to the Town’s recreational fields. The project also involves the creation of a flood bench near the new bridge and creation of riparian buffer areas as additional flood mitigation efforts. The first phase of this project will involve final design, followed by construction and post-construction activities.
Copies of the proposed application are available at the Cabot Town Clerk’s Office, 3084 Main Street, Cabot and may be viewed during the hours of 9:00 am to 4:30 pm starting on September 10, Monday – Thursday.
