The Listers of Cabot have filed with the Cabot Town Clerk the preliminary grand list of property owners as of the first day of April, 2025 (according to statute). After grievances on June 24, this will become the official grand list upon which tax bills are calculated. Property values are assessed by the Listers; tax rates are determined by the Selectboard.
Property owners who have had a change since last year to the valuation of their parcel will receive a Change of Appraisal Notice mailed this Wednesday, June 4, 2025. They are entitled to grieve that valuation.
Property owners who have had no change in value are also entitled to grieve their valuation.
Deadline to grieve is Tuesday, June 24, 3:00 p.m. Appointments are available by signing up in the Town Clerk’s office or by reaching out to the Listers (802-563-3139) or Town Clerk (802-563-2279) to secure a spot on the calendar, or grievances may be lodged by mail (PO Box 36, Cabot 05647), email (Listers@cabotvt.us), or dropping off at the town drop box at the rear of the Willey Building before June 24, 3:00 p.m.
There is a helpful form available below that may be used to file a grievance, and copies are also available at the Town Clerk’s office or Listers’ office. The form is not mandatory, just meant to make it easier for grievants.
Whether appealing or not, lister cards may be requested and questions may be addressed to the Listers at any time at Listers@cabotvt.us or 802-563-3139.
